The CPMS provide a benchmark for us, as child protection actors in humanitarian settings, to improve the quality and accountability of our programming and increase our impact by establishing agreed principles and goals.

How can we become more accountable to those we serve -  children?

The CPMS Working Group has been reflecting on how we can use the sector’s common, core document to increase our accountability to children affected by humanitarian crises. It has designed a series of tools (activities, a picture book, games and facilitation guide) for use with children (7-12 years) and adolescents (13-17 years).

We are now looking for Alliance member organisations to pilot those materials (see timeframe below). Participation would require:

  • 2 facilitators experienced in working with children and / OR adolescents per context (½ day virtual briefing + 6 short sessions with children or 2-3 short sessions with adolescents)
  • Ability to read (and write simple) English using a form which will be provided (1h / context)
  • The tools will be sent to each participating agency. They will be in English, so the agency may need to translate what the children use.
  • We do have funds to translate the package (and receive feedback) in one additional language – so please contact us if you are interested!
  • We would prefer if each participating agency runs the exercise in two different contexts (e.g. camp, urban, peri-urban; refugee, IDP, host, non-displaced but disaster-affected)

Timeframe:

  1. Registration of interest to pilot the tools & receive the training - April 1st
  2. Virtual training for facilitators (EN + 1 language) - May 27th-31st
  3. Pilot sessions - June 1st – July 10th
  4. Feedback submitted (followed by optional debrief calls) - July 14th
  5. Final product - Early September
