This webinar is part of the Parenting and MHPSS Webinar Series, hosted by the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action's Family Strengthening Task Force. The Responsible, Engaged and Loving (REAL) Fathers Initiative developed by the Institute for Reproductive Health at Georgetown University and Save the Children International and piloted in Amuru District, Northern Uganda. Grounded in formative research, REAL is a community-based mentoring program that works with young fathers (16-25 years old) who are parenting a child 1-3 years old. REAL aims to:

  • Improve parenting attitudes and confidence in using nonviolent discipline;
  • Decrease use of intimate partner violence and physical punishment of children; and
  • Foster acceptance of non-traditional gender roles in parenting.
